The Story is Not Over

Did you hear the news?dogwood

Yesterday, an innocent man was arrested as he prayed with his friends in a private sanctuary. During the night, he was beaten, tried and accused of a crime he did not commit. His closest friends left his side and are hiding somewhere–afraid to admit they know him at all. Blasphemy: He claims to be the son of the Almighty God.

This morning, the judge will find him innocent, but the crowd will demand his crucifixion. Today, he will hang on a Roman cross, crucified between two thieves, until he is dead.

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” [Isaiah 53:5]

They call this day Good Friday, but there seems to be little good about it. There is no peace in the world–sin is having its heyday. Innocent men and women praying in church are being slaughtered, because they dare to proclaim Christ.

Today, an innocent man will hang on a Cross, but the story is not over.
